While we were in Japan on the way back from Thailand I drove a car for a very short time on the infinitely narrow winding streets of Komi. Cars zipped in all directions, around blind corners and through unmarked intersections at high rates of speed. It seemed crazy. But then you noticed the little convex mirrors on poles allowing you to see around corners. Maybe unable to determine what you were seeing but making it easy to tell if it was moving.

Our perceptions of reality are much like what is seen in the mirrors. Little snippets. incomplete and distorted information, lacking context, connectedness. We have to create, interpret, coax how this information that we receive from our eyes and tastebuds adds to our concept of reality.
